Toshiba is considering holding off the launch of its HD DVD line-up until next year, according to reports from the company's Tokyo HQ. Toshiba originally planned for the technology to be widely available by the end of the year but, following talks with Hollywood studios to best determine the best possible release date, a delay is likely to occur.
So far Toshiba is the only company to publicly mention the slip, with other firms backing the format still looking at a 2005 release. However, since Toshiba is pioneering the technology the delay is likely to have a knock-on effect to everyone involved.
